Yokohama Tyre Sales Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. (YTSM) has been made aware that there are Yokohama tyres imported by unauthorized party to be distributed locally. The unofficially imported Yokohama tyres may not carry the DOT or ‘E’ Marks required by the local authorities to be legally imported and distributed in Malaysia. These certified Markings are issued by recognized global standardization bodies as proof that these tyres have been rigorously tested to ensure the safety of consumers when using the tyres.
As these tyres do not have the required certifications, they are non-compliance with the regulations by local authorities. As such, YTSM cannot and will not accept any responsibility for any issues arising from or related to the purchases of these illegally distributed tyres. Hence, the standard Yokohama Tyre 5-Year Limited Warranty will not be applicable for Yokohama tyres which are not officially imported into Malaysia by YTSM, the sole importer for Yokohama tyres in Malaysia.
YTSM is currently in communication with local government authorities on this matter and evidence are being furnished to the relevant authorities for punitive action.
